Hey! I'm Esin Akdogan

A masters student at the Institute of Education, primarily interested in Education policy.
Here’s My Story
Born and raised in Hackney, London, I am the daughter of two Kurdish immigrants who went the local state comprehensive which was next to the most deprived council estate in London. Continuing on at the same sixth form, I gained a place at the University of Oxford to read History. During my time at university, I got involved in access and outreach and became President of Oxford First Gen (a society for students whose parents did not go to university), putting on socials and outreach initiatives for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Upon graduating, I started work at Westminster Academy (WA) as OxNet coordinator, an access programme in partnership with the University of Oxford, which is what I partook in in year 12. At the moment, I am working in the sixth form of WA alongside reading for an MA in Policy Studies in Education at the Institute of Education at UCL. I hope to go into social and education policy in the future.
